London Marathon 2007 · 22 April 2007 ·

Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) is a rare lung disease that only occurs in women. It affects just over one woman in a million. We are a self-help group providing support for patients with LAM and raise money for vital research - it is often difficult to obtain money for research into a rare disease.

Story

Hello,

I am taking part in this year's London marathon on April 22nd to raise money for LAM Action and would really welcome your support.

LAM is a rare, currently incurable lung disease that affects young women, among them my friend Havi, who you can see in the photo with me. LAM is a sporadic disease that gradually destroys the lungs, destroying the lives of thousands of women around the world. Havi has written about the experience for the Independent: http://news.independent.co.uk/people/profiles/article2369574.ece

Please help me raise money for this under-researched, under-funded disease, in hope of finding a treatment that slows or halts the progression of the disease. Be as generous as you can! What about 50p or a £ for each of those 26 miles?

(Donating through this site is simple, fast and secure. LAM Action will receive your money quickly and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift.)

Another thing you can do to help is joining the organ donor register. You can do this online, on https://www.uktransplant.org.uk/ukt/Consent.do

You can also sign an e-petition to change the organ donation system from opt-in to opt-out on

http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Organ-Donation/

Please forward this to anyone else who may like to sponsor me.

Many thanks for your support. If you are in London, I'll be looking our for you on the 22nd April!

Yours,

Becky
