Story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

***NEWS FLASH*** Our big adventure turned into the two peaks challenge.  The ascent and descent of Ben Nevis was completed in 4 hours and 40 minutes (a 'normal' trip takes 8 hours) and spirits were high, despite poor visibility and heavy rain on the top of the mountain.  We made it to Wasdale Head by 11.35pm and the team set off up Scafell Pike at 11.40pm complete with head torches and night sticks. Again the weather was against us - the rest of the UK had clear skies apart from right over our part of the Lake District!  There was exceedingly poor visibility on the summit and our team lost the path.  They showed amazing courage, sense and resilience in pulling together and ensured that everyone returned safely to base camp at 5.15am.  By now energy reserves were seriously depleted and we were two hours behind schedule.  Everyone agreed the sensible decision was to make our way home and not to put anyone at risk on Snowdon.  We are all very proud of the young students who took part in this challenge and the strength and determination they showed in the face of challenging conditions for any experienced mountain climber.  Thank you to everyone for your support of them and of the East Cheshire Hospice.

Challenge - Seven children from Beech Hall School are travelling 900 miles and climbing a total of 10,000 feet in 24 hours to raise money for the East Cheshire Hospice.  The children, aged between 12 and 14, have been training for several months for this gruelling national challenge.  They will be supported by 10 adults, a mixture of parents and teachers from the school. In the 24 hour period, starting on the 28th June, the children aim to tackle the three peaks of: Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor the team: East Cheshire Hospice gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor the team now!
