BDFA Sponsored Walk Challenge 2008 · 29 April 2008

Batten disease is a group of rare, progressive neurodegenerative, genetic metabolic diseases that occur in children & adults worldwide. The BDFA's Vision is to be the central point of excellence in the UK for supporting affected families funding research into a potential cure.

Story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.

It is a parent's worst nightmare to have a child diagnosed as having Battens disease - and it will have a lifelong impact on any siblings too.  Battens disease causes degeneration of the brain and nervous system, which means that the child will suffer progressive and profound disabilities and die young.  There is no treatment and no cure.

The Batten Disease Family Association provides emotional and practical support for families with an affected child/ren, educates the professionals (doctors, nurses, therapists) who may not have come across the condition before and funds research projects into therapies and potential cures.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Batten Disease Family Association will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor us now!

Many thanks for your support.
