My story

Anthony Nolan has been chosen as Belling's charity of the year after winning a staff and public vote.

Belling is now working closely with Anthony Nolan on a year-long programme of activity and hope to raise £10,000 from fundraising and sales from a product range created for the 100th year.

For Belling's first fundraising activity three employees have agreed to run the London Marathon for Anthony Nolan.  Colin Gardner, Amanda (Mandy) Byrne, Andy Green.  Please support them by making a charitable dontation to this fantastic charity.  They plan to raise £4000.

We also have 36 employee participating in the Liverpool to Chester bike race.  The 36 dedicated employees have agreed to participate in a 25, 50 or 90 mile race to raise funds.

Here are their personal summaries;

Amanda (Mandy) - I fortunately gained a place on the London Marathon this year by winning a ballot in a local ladies running club - the Parbold Pink Panthers. However, once I knew that my company were aiming to raise money for the Anthony Nolan Trust, I was happy to become involved, particularly as my mother in law died of a related bone marrow cancer.

The event is also particularly significant for me as I turned 40 in February and felt that completing my first (and last!) marathon would be a real achievement. The training is tough and 26 miles seems a really long way, but I hope that on the day, my training, the support from spectators and the positive contribution to the Anthony Nolan Trust will keep my legs going!!

Colin - I decided this year, since it marked a siginificant birthday for myself, to run my first ever marathon, whilst raising funds for charity and I've been in training now for a few weeks- the picture above was taken just after a completing a half marathon and I can assure you it took quite an effort to smile for it and that's only half the distance!

Andy - I have been been running on and off for years and have decided to try and put it to good use. May not be as fast as the rest but wont let the sponsors down. Its good to see everyone getting behind a good cause.
