Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. I have been inspired by the BBC2 "Beyond Boundaries" programme - it followed the incredible journey of ten young disabled people on their 300km journey of a lifetime across the Andes in South America. During the expedition they had to develop trust with each other, find ways to overcome their disabilities and to find the inner strength to ascend through some of the most gruelling conditions known to Man. It was amazing to see these brave young teenagers, who have faced adversity in their personal lives back home, come together and achieve something they would have once thought was impossible. It was clear by the end of the challenge that showing these young teenagers what they could accomplish if they put their minds to it, created a lasting positive effect on their outlooks once they returned back to the UK. It was because of this programme that I decided to investigate charities within the UK that support young disabled people and help them to feel the same sense of accomplishment as those brave young teenagers. To my delight I found the Calvert Trust, a charity which provides challenging outdoor activities for people with disabilities. On the 11th October 2008 I shall be taking part in what is possibly the UK’s toughest obstacle course over a distance of 10km to support Calvert Trust Exmoor. I shall be fundraising to support bursaries for disabled people who might otherwise not be able to afford to take a break. 95p of every pound that you donate will go towards helping their visits to the Centre for a life changing experience.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Exmoor Calvert Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now! I would like to say a massive "THANK-YOU" to Go Ape for supporting my challenge. If you would like to know more about taking part in a High Wire Forest Adventure at Go Ape, please visit www.goape.co.uk .
