Alive & Kicking is an innovative charity that hand stitches leather balls in Africa to provide balls for children, create jobs for adults and promote health awareness through sport. So far over 200,000 balls have been distributed, 130 jobs created in Kenya and Zambia, and 40,000 children have been targeted by Alive & Kicking's HIV/AIDS campaign.

NEWSFLASH: Benny wins by a margin!

Benny finished in 3 hours 37 minutes and 55 seconds, coming 530th overall. Billy finished just over a minute behind him in 3 hours, 39 minutes and 10 seconds, coming 573th overall. The spectacular scenery kept us going. We have never felt so much pain in the last 7 miles. We are slowly recovering, though still look like total tits limping around the streets of Vancouver.

Thanks for visiting Ben and Billy's marathon Fundraising page.

In less that ONE WEEK we will be standing at the start line of the Vancouver marathon at 7:30 in the morning. Probably the only reason that we don't hit the snooze button and roll over and sleep through the whole thing is that we are raising money for a great UK charity called Alive and Kicking. It's a wonderful organization that provides soccer balls along with prevention programs to kids in Africa. Check out the description for more.

As of today, neither of us have any idea how training is really going for the other but we are able to commiserate about the usual training problems...chaffing, blisters, finicky body parts and plenty self-doubt, such as "Why the hell am I doing this again?" or "I'm secretly petrified of Ben/Billy beating me."... That said, we'll conquer Vancouver if it takes all day.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us-- Alive and Kicking UK gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
