Hello!

As you may or may not know, Gareth lost his youngest son Milo (left) to sudden infant death (cot death) last November. Milo George Yassin was 8 weeks old when he died and, as anyone who knows us will already know, we are a close family and losing Milo was very upsetting for everyone who loves him. As such, Gareth and I intend to run the London Marathon next year in aid of the Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths (http://www.fsid.org.uk/) . This charity gives support to bereaved families and researches the prevention of SIDS – a syndrome that is still very far from being understood and prevented and needs as much help as possible.

Here's the rub - we need to guarantee £1500 each in sponsorship money to be accepted as runners for FSID and would really appreciate your help!

Many thanks for your time. Of course we all get asked to donate to all kinds of causes throughout the year but this is one that is very important to us and we wouldn’t be so bold/brazen/rude as to ask for your hard earned cash if it wasn’t! Rest assured we will probably die trying to run the marathon and we will ensure that our wills are updated beforehand so that you get your sponsorship money back from our estates upon expiry! (That's a joke of course - in reality we'll probably die training and not even make it to the marathon!)

Cheers and heaps of gratitude,

Ben and Gareth (and Milo!)

PS - Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. FSID will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you!)
