Fistula is a condition that can be treated.  Without treatment, it often results in social exclusion and a premature and painful death.  Hamlin Fistula UK supports the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital in Ethiopia which helps to care for women who have sustained fistulas in childbirth.

The photo shows a patient arriving at the hospital, having walked 200 miles with her brother.  She had been abandoned by her husband and shunned by her friends because of the smell that is a consequence of the condition.  Within three weeks she was completely cured.
