Age UK is the new force combining Age Concern and Help the Aged We believe that age needs respect. It needs kindness. Sometimes it needs help. Too many people experience difficulties as they age. We cannot promise everyone good health, but we will fight for good care for all of us. Where we find loneliness, we will reach out. When age becomes a burden, we will try to lighten the load. Age UK will campaign. We will fundraise. We will research. We will make the powers that be listen. We will do all this to make life better for older people here and abroad. Age UK is for all of us, because age is a part of life.

Story

Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time...

The trek to Kilimanjaro will be hard, but I know that with your support I'll be able to do it.

I've set up a training blog so you can keep up with my training programme and progress towards the trek over the next five months.

It is here: http://www.livejournal.com/users/climb_kili06/ As a teaser: I'm giving up drinking for the month of October and will be donating my beer money to the total. Donating through this site is simple and secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Age Concern England will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you, which will enable them to do more to improve the lives of more older people. With an aging population, there will certainly be plenty of people who need our help. Many thanks for your support, Ben
