My personal message:

Hello!

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

As you know, I was due to run the marathon this year, but then disaster struck!

After miles and miles of pounding the pavements in preparation for the race, I woke up one morning with the dreaded 'shin splints'.

If you haven't had them, consider yourself very lucky. At one point I could bearly walk 50 yards let alone run 26.5 miles!

Recovery is a slow process- the only remedy is rest, and I only began training again 2 weeks ago after a 8 week lay off. Things still weren't right in the leg department, and so it is with great regret that i was forced to withdraw from the marathon.

However, some good news...........my place stays open for next years race!

Many of my fantastic friends have sponsored me, and made very generous donations to 'Starlight', an organisation that grants wishes to sick and terminally illl children.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Starlight Children's Foundation will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Please sponsor me for NEXT years marathon, and feel free to add your comments on how best to change my profile picture!

Many thanks for your support.
