BUPA Great North Run 2008 · 5 October 2008 ·

We’re the 10 million people living with arthritis in the UK. The carers, researchers and healthcare professionals. The family, friends and fundraisers. United by a clear vision: a future free from arthritis. One in which no one is limited by the pain, fatigue and isolation that arthritis can cause.

Story

Greetings

Hello one and all. As you probably know I took part in the Great North Run in 2006 crossing the line in a most un-respectful 16201th and finishing in an un-record breaking time of 2 hours and 5 mins. Personally I blame the niggling groin injury, one too many lucozades, the hellish pain in my knees and the other 16200 runners who prevented me from first place. If at first you don't succeed, try and try again as the old adage goes so 2008 sees my return to Newcastle and The Great North Run. I'm still running for arc (more about them below) just a bit quicker this time. If you can sponsor me a few quid it would be brill and also motivate me to break the half marathon world record which I wholeheartly intend on doing - watch out Radcliffe I've got you in my sights!

A bit of blurb

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Arthritis Research Campaign will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. Arthritis was something my late Nan suffered with all of her adult life and also something my Mom, Auntie and other relatives suffer with daily and as its hereditary something I may have one day so I figure I should probably raise lots of money for this great cause whilst I can still run.

Many thanks for your support
