Story
SUCCESS!
Afetr 6 days of paddling, the team arrived in London on Thursday the 9th September.
We would all like to thank everyone for their support leading up to, and throughout the event. Without the generosity of many it would not have happened.
The Kayak Team
Bentley Graduates have previously cycled, ran and hiked in aid of the Princes Trust. This year, they are kayaking from Birmingham to London, through tunnels and over locks on the Grand Union Canal.
The Event Starting in Birmingham, a team of 6 graduates are setting off for London. The route is 137 miles, and will see the graduates lift their kit over 150 locks. Aiming to cover around 25 miles a day, the team are planning on completing the event within the week, from the 4th to the 11th September 2010. The Team The team consists of 6 participants and 2 support crew. Manning a vehicle and trailer, the support crew will be present for the entire journey, carrying food and tents and providing motivation when the times get tough. Training The team have sourced on-water training sessions in Chester and Nantwich to ensure that all participants have the skills necessary to complete the journey safely and efficiently. Regular gym sessions and also practice treks are planned to continue throughout the summer.
