I am running the 23rd edition of THE MARATHON DES SABLES - 'The Toughest Footrace On Earth'  from 28th March to 7th April 2008.

It covers 243km/151miles run over 6 days(7 for some). In addition to this as competitors we must carry everything we need for the duration(apart from a tent) on our backs in a rucksack(food, clothes, medical kit, sleeping bag etc). Water is rationed and handed out at each checkpoint.

We will experience running or walking on uneven, rocky, stony ground as well as 15/20% of the distance being sand dunes. Midday temperatures will be up to 120 degrees fahrenheit falling down to close to freezing at night. On the 4th day we will set off across the barren wilderness to complete a 50mile stage. Few people complete this before dark that evening and some will not finish till after dark the next night. Just for fun, this is followed by the 42km/26.2mile Marathon Stage!

ALL money raised will go directly to Breast Cancer Care, as the event and ALL equipment has been funded by myself.
