The number of people diagnosed with diabetes exceeds 2,000,000 in the UK. Diabetes UK funds research and campaigns to help people living with the condition and also runs a range of support services ranging from telephone
counselling to activity weekends. Its mission is to improve the lives of people with diabetes and to work towards a future without diabetes.
On Sunday 25 September 2005, a group of graduate students from St John's College, Cambridge and Imperial College, London will be running the Berlin Marathon.

Ben, David, Florian, Frank, Ian, Nic and Paul are running and Gemma, James, Liisa and Ros will manage logistics, physio, fundraising and of course cheer them on and support their effort.
After months of training, these novice marathon runners will face the gruelling 42.2 km run alongside 40,000 other participants.
We believe that diabetes is a condition that doesn't have to interfere with living a normal, healthy life - in fact, you can even run a marathon, as is the case with one of our number (not that running a marathon is necessarily a sign of normality, or sanity!)
So we hope that you will join us in our efforts to raise money for a charity that is often overlooked, but that can help millions of diabetics live normal lives, and hopefully inspire everyone to continuously set new goals and overcome new challenges.
