Story
Welcome to the London Marathon fundraising page of Bernie & Alex.
They are raising money for Muscular Dystrophy once more, a cause close to their hearts through Bernie's work and family.
This will be the first marathon for Alex and he's been training hard all year to go the distance. He's getting married to Bernie's daughter, Beth, in June so the training will help him prepare for the stag night!
For Bernie, attempting his fifth marathon, it will be a new experience. He usually dresses up for the event - Rupert Bear, in 2005 & 2006, and as James Bond in 2008. After more serious training than ever before, possibly for one year only, he's attempting the race in a vest and shorts for a change!
They have set a target of £2000, far too high they are sure, but everyone has been amazing in previous years with their generosity so they thought they would be ambitious. Please dig deep and sponsor them online (and please leave a message – they need all the encouragement they can get!)
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor them: the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
If you are a higher rate tax payer, note the gift on your tax return and you will get another 23% in tax relief; so donating £78 will cost you only £60 and be worth £100 to the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
