Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Following on from our successful fund raising campaign for Cancer Research in Oct, I have now raised the stakes, and am competing in the London Flora Marathon on April 26th 2009.
I am not underestimating the leap from 10K to 26 miles, but with your support, we can help another very worthwhile charity.
I will be running for The Children's Society.
This charity does an excellent job helping under privileged and abused kids.
UPDATE: 26th April
I DID IT !!!!! Time 4:48:38 Position 17218/35859. Very happy to beat 5hrs and finish in the top half of the field !!! It was hot out there, so not the 2hrs 30 min I was aiming for. Hard work but a great atmosphere, made it well worth the effort !
Ok now my thanks:-
1. Special thanks to the guys that helped me with my training:-
Ward Giroux
Dave Clipperton
Matt Cowdrey
Matt gave me the plan I needed to follow to complete the course, and I am glad to say his tips were spot on !
2. Biggest thanks of all to the generosity of all the people who sponsored me - A MASSIVE THANKS TO ALL OF YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you haven't sponsored me yet, it's not too late, just click the link at the top of this page. All the money goes to a great charity !!!
UPDATE: 23rd April 2009
I went to Excel today for race registration, and collected my running number and timing chip. I am number 46735, so I should be easy to spot !!! ![]()
UPDATE: 17th April 2009
I have completed 2 x 12 mile runs in the last week, which will be the end of my longer training runs before the BIG day
. Knee problems have stopped me hitting the longer runs I planned to do, so that will need to wait until the day now.. For the remaining week it will shortish 1 hr runs to keep things ticking over. Off to the Expo in Docklands next week to collect my number. Lets get it on !
UPDATE: 2nd April 2009
Just come back from my "warm weather" training in Dubai
with GB tri-athlete Matt Cowdrey, who provided plenty of good running tips. ITB knee issues still a concern, but nothing a kilo of Neurofen can't fix !
UPDATE: 21st March 2009
I have had to stop training at them moment due to Lateral knee pain, caused by iliotibial band syndrome (ITBS) Sounds complicated, but trust me it hurts like hell !

UPDATE: 2nd March 2009
A BIG "Thank You" to Mike Fennings and Jack Gomarsall of Net2Supplies (http://www.n2s.co.uk) for their very generous donation to this fund raising effort.
UPDATE: 1st March 2009
Ward and I both ran in the Berkhamsted 1/2 Marathon today. The run seemed to be one long hill after another. Still managed to survive it, but not quite sure how I will cope with twice the distance !?!
Times: Ward 2hrs 1min ; Simon 2hrs 6mins
UPDATE: 28th Jan 2009
Training is going well. I am managing 2 x 5 mile runs during the week (thanks to Dave Clipperton who accompanies me) and a longer 8-10 mile run at weekends (thanks to Ward Giroux, my new weekend running coach). Shin splints and ankle pains are preventing me increasing the distance at this point, and my best friend is my ice pack !
I am running my 1st 1/2 Marathon on 1st March with Ward, which should be a good gauge of progress.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Children's Society gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
SO PLEASE SPONSOR ME NOW !
Cheers
Besty
