Accelerated Free Fall · 11 August 2008

The International Rescue Corps is an independent UN registered disaster rescue service. Formed in 1981 in the aftermath of the Italian earthquake, and has since undertaken numerous missions at home and across the world. All the IRC's services are provided free of charge, our aim is purely to save life.

Story

On September 21st, I will be doing an Accelerated Free-Fall skydive for charity. For those not au fait with such ridiculous antics, this involves jumping out of a plane at 11,000ft or so, hurtling groundwards in free-fall at 120mph before opening a parachute at about 5000ft in order to float back down to earth.

It's all for a good cause - I mean, over and above providing cheap thrills for adrenalin junkies.  The charity I'm jumping for is the International Rescue Corps. You can read more about what they do via www.intrescue.org, or on the left hand side of this page.

I'd be hugely grateful for any sponsorship you'd like to offer. Or even just encouraging words if you see me looking anxious over the next few weeks....I'm probably 90% ridiculously excited and 10% apprehensive (but, shhh, don't tell anyone, I'm supposed to be tough).

Highly exaggerated tales of unparallelled fear and heroic derring-do, in due course.
