Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses – who we continually support and develop – provide life-changing care for families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Story

Hey!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. As part of a group of research scientists I am cutting off my hair - hair that has been 4 years in the making and currently almost reaches my waist!

I intend to donate about 25cm of hair (Cutting at the nape of my neck) to the Little Princess Trust who help to provide real hair wigs to children who have unfortunately lost their own due to cancer treatment. In addition I wish to raise some money for Dementia UK.

The vision of Dementia UK is to give people living with, and affected by dementia compassionate, expert care and support that is right for them, to live positive and fulfilling lives. In essence, they support and provide admiral nurses to support those living with or affected by dementia. Dementia is a disease that affects everyone, and can be stressful and scary not only to those who suffer it, but also to their families and loved ones. Currently the charity's geographic outreach is limited to the lower areas of the UK. With more support they will be able to establish admiral nurses in new areas such as the Channel Islands, Devon, East Yorkshire, Isle of Man, Nottinghamshire, Scotland and many more.

I hope you can spare some cash and/or come and support us as we donate our hair and don bobs :)
