<p>On September 16th, I'm running the BUPA Great North Run -- 13.1 miles from the west end of Newcastle to South Shields seafront -- for Medecins Sans Frontieres, also known internationally as Doctors Without Borders.</p> <p>MSF is an independent humanitarian organisation that is committed to providing medical aid where it is most needed, irrespective of race, religion, politics, or gender, and to raising awareness of the plight of people they help. In 2012, MSF staff have provided medical relief in Palestine, in Syria, in the South Sudan, and in many other places, occasionally at the cost of their own lives.
