Story

Welcome to the Bexhill 2 Camber Challenge 2011!

COMPLETED!!!!

Conditions: Force 3-4 WNW gusty, then Force 2 SW, then force 5 WSW.

Out of the 15 participants ranging from kayak, canoe, kite and windsurf 12 made it all the way and others did very well respectively considering the difficult conditions! Conditions were light to start with and then came the gusts, the rain (3 sailors spent 40mins sitting out at sea) and later some super strong winds. Everyone got back to beach safely. !! Enjoy the photos.

Its not a race but first to beach was Abi in 3hours 45mins on kayak and the quickest time again was Krafty in 2hours 15mins. First kiter Hubbs did it in approx under 3hours.

---------------------------------

The Bexhill2Camber challenge is to travel by sea by wind and paddle 23miles from Bexhill to Camber to raise money for Cancer Research (W4CR). Crafts being used are Windsurf, Kayak, Kitesurf and other. It is a group of friends doing it unassisted and without rescue cover.

It is not a public event, the participants taking part are doing so at entirely their own individual risk. The total distance is approx 23 miles in a straight line but the true distance could be much dependant on winds and tides.

The challenge should not be under estimated the sailing distance could be much longer and weather conditions can change and become very dangerous. The most notorious sections is the adaptly named 'no mans land', a section of high cliffs between Hastings and Pett Level with no way up or down. Should anything go wrong one could face a 3 or 4 mile swim.

Apart from the physical challenge, its a great on the water and raise lots of money for a worthy cause!! Those not taking part please come and see us off at the beach and/or meet us at the other end to celebrate!!

See you on the beach
