My story

On 2nd March 2012 the self styled Sydney Arms Cycling Club, Mark Gately (43), Andy Bruce (48), David Pincott (50), Tony Deer (51) and Paul Jenkins (51), will cycle from The Sydney Arms, Chislehurst in Kent to The White Horse, Beyton, Suffolk (81.5 miles and a ferry crossing) in memory of Sarah Applin. Why you ask.

Sarah worked at her parents pub, The White Horse in Beyton and we were fortunate enough to have met and been served by Sarah on our many trips to the White Horse.

In late December 2010 Sarah (32) developed Swine Flu and was taken to West Suffolk Hospital. She gave birth to a son, William, on 22 December by caesarean section. Tragically just two weeks later Sarah was taken from this world due to complications with pneumonia following treatment for swine flu. Sarah already had two daughters aged 4 years and 15 months.

Sarah received care at the Intensive Care Unit of the West Suffolk Hospital and her family and friends have been raising funds for the purchase of a motion bed for the unit. The cost is £25,000.

We hope to help the efforts of Sarah's family and friends in our small way to raise sufficient funds to purchase the motion bed in the memory of Sarah.
