About the charity : The John Muir Trust The John Muir Trust
The John Muir Trust is the UK’s leading wild land conservation charity. Through conserving, campaigning and inspiring people, we seek to ensure that wild land is protected and that wild places are valued by all members of society. Over the years we have acquired some of Scotland's finest wildland treasures including part of the Cuillins on Skye, Schiehallion in Perthshire, and most of Ben Nevis. The Trust takes its name after the Scots-born pioneer of the modern world conservation movement, John Muir, who was the first person to actively call for the conservation of wild land. Personal message:

In 2003-2004 Paul and Helen Webster walked almost 4,000 miles across Europe, raising over £5,000 for the Red Cross in the process.

Paul is now writing a blog about the experience of doing the walk, and is adding another day's account every couple of days or so; the blog will take almost two years to complete! Blogging seems to take almost as much effort as doing the walk - so hopefully the blog can raise money too!

Click on The Big Walk blog to read about the walk so far.

If you enjoy the story - or even if it bores you to tears(!) - please consider donating to the John Muir Trust through this page. If you are a UK tax-payer, be sure to click the box for gift aid, as this will increase the value of your donation.

Many thanks - and happy reading.
