Sense is here to support disabled people from the first weeks of life through all the major milestones of adulthood. Over 70 years, we’ve built extensive knowledge and expertise in supporting disabled people with complex needs, including deafblind people.

Story

Firstly, thanks for taking the time out to at least have a look here.

As I'm sure you know, I ran the London Marathon in April, and have seriously caught the running bug. I did London in 4.01 so am desperate to beat that - and am hoping it won't be so ridiculously hot in New York.

I'm running for Sense, which is the UK's largest organisation for both children and adults who are deafblind or have associated disabilities.

Clearly I can't imagine being deaf or blind, let alone both, but it's a safe bet it must be pretty tough. Many people will not be totally deaf and totally blind but will have some remaining use of one or both senses. Others will also have additional physical and learning disabilities to contend with.

So it's a charity that does a lot of good work for severely disadvantaged people - and for that reason you should dig deep to sponsor me! If it makes it any easier to part with a few quid, bear in mind the pain and suffering I'll be putting myself through too - that should put a smile on your face!

I need to raise one hell of a lot of money even to secure a place so please be as generous as you think you can afford - and maybe even forgo that extra couple of pints and give it to charity?!

Here's the official bit:

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Sense - National Deafblind and Rubella Association will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
