Story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

Help for Heroes was set up in October 2007 and has already reached A MASSIVE £15 million.  The money raised goes to many different charities and causes that support the soldiers that are injured in Afghan and Iraq.  Unfortunately you do not get to hear about these men and women that are injured every day.  This charity helps and supports these people on their road to recovery. (http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/)

Danielle's fiance Glenn is a serving Royal Marine.  He is currently on his third  six month tour in Afghanistan since January 2007.  Glenn and his friends do an amazing job out there and this was recently recognised at the Sun Military Awards when his unit won an award.

Sadly in December 2008 alone, 5 British Soldiers were killed and over 80 injured.  This is why this charity is so dear to us, we want to show how proud we are and show our support to Glenn and all other serving troops.

NOW FOR THE FUNNY BIT.

Big Bums Bike for the Boys says it all.  Saturday 25th April Danielle and Charlotte will do a 45 mile bike ride from Great Grimsby to the Humber Bridge AND THEN BACK!!  Yes. I can hear you gasp, that does cover two counties! Lincolnshire to Yorkshire and then back to Lincolnshire and probably home to a hot bath and a pint of wine.

Anyone who does know us (we are the big bums) will realise that this is going to be hard work and will hurt - LOTS. Being two rather unfit girls who much prefer spending their time with a glass of wine than at a gym will appreciate just how much effort and training we are going to have to do to manage 4.5 miles let alone 45 miles ! However, compared to the jobs that the British Forces do every day the training and hard work will be more than worth it.

So on this note give as much as you can and forward to all of your friends and family.  Any donation will be massively appreciated.

DIG DEEP PEOPLE.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Help for Heroes gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor us now!  If you would prefer to sponsor another way please contact Danielle on 07828406339

Sun 22nd Feb - We have just got in from a 10 mile bike ride on the tandem and did 15 miles yesterday. Not a bad weekend for training. Baz and Archie came along both times and Baz seems to be taking great pleasure in shouting 'come on bigs bums you can do it' and similarly nice things as soon as there are people around. Which going through Cleethorpes on a nice weekend was quite alot. Danielle is looking forward to hearing from Glenn soon so that she can tell him we did the 15 miles as he wasn't convinced when she told him! So we are getting there, bit by bit
Sun 15th March - Was abandoned at The Humber Bridge with the tandem and left to it. Biked back to New Waltham, 26 miles. Was hard work but good fun. The half a Lager & Lime at The Cross Keys Pub on the way also helped. Both feeling confident for the full 45 in 6 weeks time just hope we get the same weather as yesterday.
