Hey there!!
If you are reading this you have been informed of our need for a new Billy Goat for the JENGA Goat Project.
Buying this one Big Daddy Bill will enable us to continue the project and bless hundreds of vulnerable recipients with their own baby goat.
We need to raise £250 to purchase and transport our new posh daddy goat, cover the vets fees and all the initial maintenance costs.
Thanks again for your support..
The JENGA Team
Here's a bit more info about how it all works!
Project Location
The Project is based in the area of Mooni. Mooni is a deprived rural area, 5km from Mbale, at the bottom of the Elgon mountain range. Its people are historically subsistence farmers, providing for themselves and selling any surplus in the market in Mbale.
Target Group
The target group of the project are widows, especially those who lost their husband due to HIV/AIDS, orphans and other vulnerable families.
How the Project Works
The Project works by mating local female goats with a hybrid male (buck) in order to produce healthier, stronger cross-bred kids. The principle is that better quality offspring will provide a sustainable form of income generation for their recipients and their families.
The project is a revolving scheme where the goat is given to the widow or orphan and a female goat is claimed back after the first birth.
First-born reclamation means that a) the project is sustainable, and, b) by knowing that they have paid a goat back to the programme, recipients have increased ownership of the goat.
Why a Goat and not other animals
- Goats’ milk is thicker than cows milk, so even a little milk will feed many people.
- There is an efficient reproduction turn over as goats can easily have three births in two years; with two or three kids per birth.
- Goats are simple to manage and do not require a lot of space, only little feeding and can eat almost anything they are given - which is ideal for recipients with small space and disposable income.
- Goats cost less than cattle; making it easier to access donor support.
- The manure is very easy to process and very good for land.
And here's the blurb about Justgiving....
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send JENGA and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for JENGA.
Thank you!!
