These give much clearer images leading to earlier detection and they are also far more comfortable for those undergoing mammograms.

The lives of several women in the group have been touched by cancer either directly or indirectly in the three years that the group has been running. This particular appeal has two things in common with the Isis Cyclists: it’s local to Oxford and it is focused on women. In 2009 the Isis Cyclists raised an amazing £3,954 for the Jane Ashley Unit in Oxford. With your help it would be fantastic to exceed this figure in 2011!

We are pleased to announce that Cycletta is sponsoring the Big Pink Pedal. You can find out more about their women-only bike events at www.cycletta.co.uk.

The challenge is for the group, collectively and on one day, to ride one mile for every woman diagnosed with breast cancer at the Oxford Cancer Centre in the three years since the Isis Cyclists was founded. This amounts to a staggering 1305 miles.

Isis Cyclists are contributing by doing a variety of rides on Saturday 9 July: (1) a very gentle and leisurely 15-mile ride, meandering in a figure of eight taking in Headington, Iffley, central and north Oxford; (2) a 30-mile ride out into the countryside, at a slightly faster pace, including Brill hill; and (3) a double-length long ride, only for the intrepid! These rides will offer a satisfying challenge for all riders! Contact isiscyclistsctc@gmail.com if you would like to take part!

Please support us and help provide state-of-the-art medical facilities for women in Oxford!

Isis Cyclists CTC run short bike rides for women in Oxford with the aim of encouraging non-cyclists to get back on their bikes and commuters to enjoy leisure cycling – all as a step towards health, having fun and meeting new people. Rides are led by experienced members of the CTC and use the best of the city’s cycle paths and quiet lanes, heading towards greenery wherever possible.
