BUPA Great Manchester Run 2008 · 18 May 2008 ·

We're dedicated to beating blood cancer. We fund research and support those affected. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. The day we beat blood cancer is now in sight and our researchers are determined to finish the job.

Story

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WE'VE DONE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a fantastic day we had for the Great Manchester Run 2008.  The weather was perfect and the crowds cheered and whooped as we ran.  It certainly kept our spirits high and our legs working.

Once the race began and we ran through the start line we all high fived Dennis Law, who from a distance looked distinctively like one of the Chuckle Brothers (sorry Dennis).  You get a good idea how giddy we all were before the race!

Mum and family supported us from Salford Quays and Suzannes family were there at the finish to help us sprint those last few hundered metres.  We also had a surprise 'come on, you can do it' from actor Tony Audenshaw, aka Bob Hope (Emmerdale) and he very kindly joined us for a photo at the Leukaemia Research stand post race.  So as well as running a great race we also managed to hob nob with a few celebs!

We all ran the 10km in very respectable times, ranging from 1hr 7mins to 1hr 12mins.

All of your donations and good wishes helped us to keep running and the money raised is helping Leukaemia Research, a cause which is so close to our hearts.  We know Dad would be very proud of us.  We miss him very much.

Many thanks for your support.  And here's to next year.....

In loving memory of Dad, John Thaw Mathers MBE
