Thanks for visiting the fundraising page for the Big Small Isles Challenge!
Well folks, we did it! A slightly depleted team of 7 of us managed to climb the highest summits of Rum, Canna, Muck & Eigg in one day. Our time from setting off up the first peak to getting to the pub at the bottom of the last peak was 14 hours and 20 minutes. We were pretty pleased with that, especially as we did the challenge in some of the hottest and sunniest weather of the year so far.
You can see a few of our photos from the day if you click on the link on the left on this page. So, we proved the boatman wrong as we completed our mountain marathon in record time! It was a hard but magic day out. We saw deer and wild goats on the hill, otters fishing by the shore and even a couple of minke whales next to our boat. Each of the summits had their own challenges but there was a great team spirit and we just kept going until the job was done.
You'll notice the celebratory beers in the final photo. I should add that we managed about 4 beers each before we fell asleep in our chairs back at the hostel (well, they were comfy chairs and we had been up since 4am!). So it must have been a tiring event!
Thanks so much to everyone who has sponsored us and helped us reach and breach our target. So far, your donations will help to restore the gift of sight to over 100 people in developing countries, so a huge thanks to you for your support.
If you would like to make a donation, you can do so until 31 July and it would make a huge difference to someone's life if you do. We are raising money for Sightsavers International.
Just £17 is enough to give someone their sight back,Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Sightsavers International gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
We would be very grateful if you could sponsor us now!
