My story

Amongst many other challenges Sean is mostly recognised for climbing Kilimanjaro dressed as a penguin and more recently cycling 16,000 miles through 6 continents in 116 day and doing most of it with a fractured spine after getting run over by a truck in America. His never-give-up attitude captured the imagination of thousands and is now trying to raise awareness about banishing the kerosene lamp from Africa.

I'm really greatful for your donation and here are some examples of where your money actually goes.

£10 will buy two student lamps

£100 will provide two larger household systems

£1000 will power a school

Did you know????

98% of rural Africa has no electricity

600m Africans have no access to electricity

1.6m worldwide die from indoor air pollution caused by flame based lighting (kerosene lamps and fires)

In Tanzania, the poor have to spend 20% of their salary on kerosene

I am Sean and my little legs are going to be making 7 Million rotations each while I try and break to world record for cycling around the Earth. This crazy idea of mine brings along with it some of the harshest climates and terrains the world can throw at me and I will be eating and drinking my entire body weight in food and water every 2 weeks.
My motivation for completing and becoming a World Record Holder is fuelled by being able to help people less fortunate than myself. Providing African Schools with Solar Energy not only the obvious environmental benefits, but has also proven to increase education levels in students which as we all know is the key to success.
SolarAid really does make a positive contribution to helping people and the environment.
