As Chairman of the <a title="International Children's Trust" href="http://www.theict.org/">International Children’s Trust</a>, I am so proud of our work helping the world’s most vulnerable children access education, guidance and protection.   I am delighted to let you all know that I and two friends, Ian and Kassie, on 24th September, completed this 90km London to Brighton cycle challenge to raise funds for this vital work. Now it is the turn of our wonderful friend and Trustee Dan Jones who will, with his friends, take up the  gauntlet.  On 30th October, he and his team will bike4kidsworldwide and  will then hand on the baton to another team.     Mark Foster, World Champion and Olympian Swimmer,  supports bike4kidsworldwide. Please give us your support also.   Across the world millions of children are the victims of the poverty they are born into. Family breakdown, violence, abuse, and lack of education are just some of the challenges they face; many find themselves on the streets or in forms of child labour as a result. They are children like Carmen, who at just 8 years of age was abandoned by her emotionally damaged mother and left to dance on the streets to earn her own rent. Thankfully, she was found by skilled workers supported by International Childrens Trust. They put a roof over her head, food in her mouth, and helped her back into school. Carmen now has the support she needs to rebuild her life and escape a future of destitution and distress. ICT’s respected partner agencies on the ground ensure that children like Carmen don’t just have access to basic services - they also have access to the psychological, emotional and social support they need to move beyond their experiences into a secure future. This is the key to breaking the vicious cycle of poverty. I hope that I can rely on you to support my challenge.
