Story

(we now have a website at http://bikemongolia.95mb.com where hopefully you can check our progress!)
Hello to everyone and thanks for visiting the page. In April Graham and I are setting off for Mongolia by bike. We will first cycle to Dover and cross the English Channel to Belgium by ferry. Once on the continent we will cross Belgium, Holland, Germany and Poland, this we estimate should take us until mid May. We will then leave Poland and head on into Belarus, which will take us on into Russia. Once in Russsia we shall head East over the Ural mountains and on into Siberia and the Russian far East. We should reach the Russian/Mongolian border by early September. Once in Mongolia it sould take us 3-4 weeks to reach our final destination, the capital Ulaan Bator.
Once here we will be trying to find a way home by an alternative means of transport! The total distance will be somewhere in the region of 16,000 kilometres. This means an average of 100km/day for approximately 6 months. We will be carrying all of our own equipment and aiming to camp as much as possible.
It would be great if through doing this I can raise some money for the Childrens Hospice so please dig deep, it all goes straight to the Hospice;

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Children's Hospice South West will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support, Lewis Ames.
