Bike Peaks · 18 April 2007

Friendship Works improves the wellbeing and life chances of children who face multiple disadvantages. We recruit and train adult volunteer mentors who support children for a minimum of two years. Our mentors take children out three times a month to give them opportunities and positive experiences.

Story

Following the roaring success of our 2006 mission for the 15 Peaks, the Hiking Vikings take on a new dimension for 2007, becoming the Hiking Biking Vikings.

Not content with simply scaling the 3 most daunting Peaks in the UK on foot, we are endeavouring to pedal bikes between them.

Starting with Ben Nevis on Saturday 25th of August, a 5 hour climb and then begin the journey south, averaging 70 miles cycling a day, arriving at Scafell Pike on the Wednesday and Snowdon the following Saturday.  440 Miles of Biking, 45 Miles of mountainous Hiking.

The Charity we did this for last year, Friends United Network, continues to provide incredible support and benefit to children in less privileged areas of London and we’re very pleased to be doing everything we can to raise even more for them this year.  Last year we made over £3000.  We will be parading ourselves around pubs in Hammersmith, Richmond and the City this year, as always, dressed humiliatingly as Hiking Vikings, imploring the merry denizens to donate pennies, pounds, and notes, as well as holding a few parties of our own.

Our Just Giving page, however, is our major resource for fundraising.  Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Friends United Network will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

We entirely fund these events ourselves – all money donated goes straight to the charity.

Please give generously.

Thanks for stopping by.
