My story

UPDATED SEE BELOW - NEW PICTURES ADDED

Hi there,

We are doing the London to Brighton Bike Ride on 21 June 2009, Father's day, in loving memory of the most brilliant man, the late, great Leo Anthony Paul Fivey.

Leo suddenly and most unexpectedly passed away at The Manor House Leisure Centre, Killadeas on Saturday 21st February 2009, aged just 61. He suffered a heart attack not showing any signs of illness at all. He lived and loved life at the family home on Boa Island, Co. Fermanagh, Northern Ireland.

Leo is very sadly missed by all the family and many friends. His wise words and advice were and indeed still are an inspiration to many many people.

Leo was the fittest 61 year old we knew and his life centred on fitness, sport and healthy living but most importantly, family. He is the best husband, father and coach you can ever imagine, a man decades ahead of his time.

We are all so shocked but we have so many memories that will mean Leo will live on forever in our hearts.

We are doing this bike ride for Leo on Father's day and just 2 days after what would have been his 62nd birthday. He was a wonderful man who would do anything for anyone and is a sadly missed husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend.

He often talked about doing this ride so we are doing it for him this year.

The Manor House, where Leo died did NOT have a defibrillator which may have saved him as Leo was still relatively young and very fit indeed. Maybe one day all fitness and leisure clubs and sports teams will have a defibrillator on site. We hope to raise enough money to fund the placement of a defibrillator at the Manor House Hotel and reduce the chances of this happening to another family.

We hope that what has happened to us will not happen to anyone else.

A bouquet of wonderful memories

Sprayed by a million tears

If only God could have spared him for just a few more years

We love and miss you Leo very very much

Thanks to everyone for your support

Karen, Daniel and Carl

POST EVENT: WE DID IT!!! Just a quick update to let you all know that we did it. The best Husband, Dad and coach was with us the whole way. We are certain that he was laughing at Carl's puncture after only 8 miles but he was with us all day long and helped us to the finish!! Rod wasn't joking either, it took more than a bit of luck to get up THAT hill.... Hopefully we can put some pictures from the day on here soon, watch this space. This website is live until September so there is still plenty of time to donate if you haven't already done so. Thanks for all your kinds messages and support to help us through a very tough day.

New pictures have now been added, we hope you enjoy them.... We now have over £1600 which is great, thank you all so much. That shouldn't stop us donating though, the website is still active and it all counts....

Just a final note of thanks to everyone who donated to help us raise money for the BHF both through this website and through offline donations. Thanks also to everyone, your continue support is a blessing for us through what is a very difficult time. All the very best and God bless.
