STOP PRESS! I am very pleased to announce that I successfully completed the Marathon du Mont Blanc last Sunday. It was just as tough as I had imagined but a truely great event. The last six miles to the finish at nearly 2000m in 26c heat was the stuff of nightmares but the thought of all the good wishes and sponsorship did help to keep the legs moving. A national charity supporting children, young people and adults with learning disabilities, MacIntyre has launched its 2012 Appeal which aims to encourage the people we support to improve their health and well being by participating in exercise-related activity.
I have been persuaded by colleagues and others to launch the appeal by undertaking a personal challenge. Therefore I will be taking part in the Mont Blanc Marathon on the 28th June. It is a full marathon run (26.2 miles) that also climbs 12,000 feet (equivalent of 4 times up and down Snowdon) and the route will take me from the French ski town of Chamonix to the Swiss border and back.
I have never attempted anything quite like this before and so I am looking for encouragement. Thank you to everyone who has supported me to date- it really is motivating so please keep helping. All donations no matter how small or large will be fully put to good use.
