Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for TreeHouse and the North London Hospice.
One of my most memorable holidays was as an architectural student motor biking around France with two very good friends and visiting some of the magnificent mediaeval churches and cathedrals on the pilgrim routes leading to Santiago de Compostela. Brian Sewell's TV series on the Camino de Santiago, the route acrossNorthern Spain where the main European pilgrimage ways combine, rekindled my interest in seeing more of this inspired architecture. A recent newspaper article on walking the 500 miles of the Camino seemed a dream challenge - what else after completing the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and raising almost £14,000 for the National Autistic Society in 2004! So I'm attempting to walk the Camino in just four weeks in June to raise funds for the marvellous work of the North London Hospice in Finchley and the very specialTreeHouseSchool in Muswell Hill for children with severe autism. The two charities will share the amount raised equally.
Do please give as generous support as you are able to - my legs will need it!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: TreeHouse and the North London Hospice will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. The donation pages will show TreeHouse as the recipient of your sponsorship; that is a technical glitch in the Justgiving system - rest assured that the North London Hospice will benefit too!
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
North London Hospice
Registered charity no: 285300
Every year North London Hospice provides medical care for over 1000 patients suffering from advanced cancer, motor neurone disease and other terminal illnesses. It also offers emotional and practical support to patients and their families. The hospice has served the London boroughs of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey since 1984 and was the first multi-faith hospice in the UK.
All the hospice services are free of charge and only 26% of its funding comes from the NHS. Every year more than £4 million is needed to provide this comprehensive, specialised care.
