If you've got to my page, you're a star!
As you all know, I'm not your natural runner - two things get in the way - so you'll know hard it'll be for me to run 13.1 miles or 21 kilometres.
*My mum doesn't believe I can raise a grand and said that if I manage it, she'll donate another £100. Please help me prove her wrong!*
I'll be running on the 27th September 2009 in the Run to the Beat race around Greenwich in aid of my charity, Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture. Every year, we help around 2,000 people: mothers, sons, babies, families, unaccompanied children. They have either been persecuted and tortured or seen their families ripped apart by torture. All face ongoing uncertainty about their future in the UK and many are destitute.
I have read horrific, unbelievable case studies and then met the survivors in person. They are amazing, resilient people, many of whom have gone on to find jobs; make new friends; become volunteers; or gone back to school.
Please help me and my charity to help survivors of torture. I would be very grateful for any donation, whatever the size.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
