Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-shortening genetic condition that slowly destroys the lungs and digestive system. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the only UK-wide charity fighting for a life unlimited, when everyone living with CF can look forward to a long, healthy life. www.cysticfibrosis.org.uk

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

Everest Base Camp Challenge
November 7 - 25, 2009.

I had to postpone my trip due to my Mother being rushed into hospital 4 November 2009. She subsequently died 22 November 2009. I will do the trek November 2010 in her memory and therefore intend to continue raising funds for Cystic Fibrosis.

'I decided that going to Everest would be a great way to celebrate my sixtieth birthday and in turn do something positive for others and myself.
My hope is that I can raise £5000 by doing a sponsored trek to
Everest Base Camp(17,601 feet) along with adjacent peak - Kala Patar(18,192 feet).
I intend to pay for the trek myself.'

This money will be used to purchase Spirometers with incentive devices along with a donation to Gene Therapy Research. Children who suffer from Cystic Fibrosis derive great benefit from this apparatus.

A Spirometer is an apparatus for measuring the volume of air inspired and expired by the lungs.

When my friend Annette's little girl Arienne uses this Spirometer it feels like breathing exercises, but in a fun way!
This Spirometer has a computer screen with a little boy blowing into a milkshake and when Arienne blows hard into this machine, bubbles will come out of the milkshake and spill over the top of the glass. As we know, many children like to make a mess and she thinks this is funny.Ultimately whilst gaining benefit from using the machine, Arienne doesn't look on it as a chore.

There is only one Spirometer with the incentive device to go round twenty four children living in West Grampian, The Highlands and Western Isles, an area even bigger than Belgium.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cystic Fibrosis Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Check out my video - 'See Mount Everest, things to do before you die.'

So please sponsor me now!
Thank you
Billy
Best wishes for 2009
