WE DID IT! A MAGNIFICENT FLIGHT!!
ITS ON AGAIN!!! The 23rd AUGUST at WORTHING PIER THE TARTAN FLYER WILL TAKE TO THE SKIES!!
Last years event was cancelled see below:
As you may have seen in the news the fun flyers day on Sunday 7th July was cancelled due to severe weather. We understand we will be allowed to fly again next year.
For those of you who have donated I can only apologise that John didnt get wet this year and hope you will be OK waiting for next year!
For those who pledged please hang on until next year when we promise a truly spectacular flight!
TEAM TARTAN FLYER
BIRDMAN OF BOGNOR at WORTHING
On August 23rd, John "Bigglesworth" Donnelly, some say unwisely, will attempt to fly his legendary glider the Tartan Flyer from the end of Worthing Pier.
He does this in pursuit of science and your generous donations to the St Baranbas Hospice.
For those not familiar with this 40 year old tradition the idea is to advance man powered flight by plummeting...erm, sorry...gliding gracefully off the end of the pier. He who flies furthest will win. Needless to say John will be packing sandwiches and his passport.
In true tradition he will be wearing full Highland dress and his launch will be accompanied by the pipes and a loud splash.
In the words of JFK we dont do these things because they are easy we chose them because they are really quite difficult actually...not to say rather dangerous...so please give generously.
PS. If you wish to see this daredevil historical flight then please note that due to 80 feet falling off Bognor pier the event will be staged in Worthing this year.
