We provide help and hope to everyone living with dementia.

Story

On Sunday 22nd December 2013, my family contacted me to let me know that my lovely Nana had been taken into hospital. I immediately drove back home to Gateshead to be with her in the hospital.

All of her family had the opportunity to visit her and thank her for everything she has done, and told her that we all loved her.

3 days later, at approximately 10:00AM on Christmas day, she passed away. Personally, if feels like we lost her a long time ago due to her dementia, which was progressively getting worse, leaving her confused as to who her own family members were.

Dementia is an awful illness that not only has an effect on the ill person, it also affects the entire family. I can only hope that some sort of brain restorative treatment or treatment is developed to remove, prevent or even slow down dementia!

Since my nana has passed, i have been thinking about death quite a bit. I have realised that if i want to live a long life and pass away in my sleep around my family, i should really lose weight to improve my overall health.

Myself and Charlotte, my sister, are going to lose weight to make ourselves healthier and live longer. I want to lose 7 stone in 7 month (by my birthday, in July) and Charlotte wants to lose 3 stone by her birthday in August.

That is a total of 140lbs lost... lets see if we can raise pound for pound for Alzheimers Trust, a fantastic charity working to fight dementia.

We will all get old one day, the more we support Alzheimers trust now, the more chance they have of finding a treatment for us by the time we get old!
