Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Rona Trust gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!

I am raising money to participate in the Tall Ships Transatlantic Challenge"7.000 nautical mile odyssey around the North Atlantic". In Summer 2009 I will be racing about Rona II, a 68ft Sail Training Vessel from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada to Belfast, Northern Ireland. For the race we are required to raise £1400 with a minimum of £700 of that sum coming from sponsorship.

So who are the Rona Trust?

The Rona Trust, which runs the London Sailing Project, is one of the longest running sail training organisations in the country. It was founded in 1960 to take boys aged between 14 and 19 from disadvantaged backgrounds sailing for a couple of days. It has evolved so it now owns four boats from 57-75ft in length and takes males and females between 14 and 24 years old looking for a "new and exciting challenge" sailing for one week around the South Coast of England.
