The money will go towards helping the Sea Eagle (white tailed eagles), which is the king of birds. They were driven to extinction in the UK and almost as well in Iceland. The population is still under threat in Iceland and sea eagles are now being re-introduced in the UK with sea eagles from Norway.

It is believed that in 2007, 33 pairs laid eggs which is a reduction of 25% since last year. Humans have tried to drive the eagle to extinction, this year 12 of 75 nesting sites were destroyed by burning them, putting rocks in them and putting up scarecrows. One eagle was shot with a shotgun.

I ran 55 KM (35 miles) cross country ultra marathon in Iceland on the 14th of July. The course took me over snow, glacier rivers, black sand 'deserts' and geothermal areas.
