Story

On the 21st of May the Reconnaissance Platoon of E (Light Infantry) Company, the West Midland Regiment, Hereford are taking part in the sponsored 30-mile Black Mountain Challenge. Ten of the Hereford-based soldiers will be running the arduous route to raise funds for The Royal National College for the Blind which is also located in Hereford.

Over the last twelve months the Platoon has taken part and excelled at many challenges. We have been all over the world on operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, and on exercises in Belgium, Germany, Slovakia and the UK - all this whilst still maintaining our civilian jobs and of course caring for our families at home.

The Territorial Army (TA) is an essential part of the British Army, encouraging everyday people to do extraordinary things. The TA offers exciting opportunities for people from all walks of life to develop skills and face challenges, meet new people and get paid for doing it! Motivated individuals make a real difference to the TA by bringing their knowledge and experience with them. If you would like to know more about joining this successful and dynamic team please contact the recruiting team on 01432 359 917

The Platoon members have been given many opportunities, and would like to help the students at The Royal National College to receive as many opportunities themselves; whether that is through academic qualifications, training for work, or simply gaining their independence. We would like to raise a significant sum for this deserving cause so please dig deep and we promise to do the same on the mountains!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: The Royal National College For The Blind will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So please sponsor us now! Many thanks for your time and support.
