Story

                           We did it!!!!

And what an experience it was. 1000 miles, 13 days, 7 people, rather too many of the biggest hills you ever did see, 2 punctures, 1 broken spoke, 1unfortunate incident with a car, 2 Xrays , 0 broken bones (thankfully), some overly friendly mice, very nearly 50mph on several occasions, the best weather you could possibly imagine for such a trip, a few very strange characters along the way and we finally got there at about 1620 on Thursday 25th.

More important than any of that though, with the very kind help of every one of our sponsors, we've raised more than £15,000!!!!!  Although it's not all listed on this site, as a group we've managed to pester you good people for more than £10,000 and our extremely  generous employer (Perkins Engines Peterborough) have agreed to match half of anything we raise which is obviously superb news, thanks to you all.

For those who are not aware of it already, you can see
what we've been up to for the last 2 weeks at,

www.blazingsaddles2008.co.uk

We'll get this site updated as soon as we can, with a full account of what we've been through including all the high and low points from what was an amazing trip.

Thanks again to all of you for making this trip so very worthwhile, the Blazing Saddles, Sue Ryder and Cancer Research are all hugely grateful to you all.

The Blazing Saddles

WELCOME TO BLAZING SADDLES 2008!

The five handsome chaps and two lovely ladies on the left - Dan, Dave, Richard, Ian, Stuart, Kate, Alison and Anna (not pictured) are the ’Blazing Saddles’  In September 2008, we are going to undertake the considerable challenge of cycling from Land’s End to John O’GroatsDon’t be fooled by our athletic physiques, not many of us are currently regular cyclists, but each and every one of the gent's in the team will be pedalling our way through the arduous 1017 mile journey.  We'll be supported during their ride by Kate and Alison, who will be making sure everyone is fed, watered and, most importantly, where they need to be!

Every penny raised will assist Cancer Research UK and Sue Ryder’s Thorpe Hall Hospice to continue the amazing work they do.  None of the money donated will be funding this - we are paying all of our own expenses. (Please note this website is only capable of supporting one charity, but rest assured that 50% of all money raised will go to Sue Ryder)

The unfortunate truth is that almost everyone will be affected by cancer at some point in their lives and so 'Blazing Saddles' decided they'd like to do something positive about it. Charities like Cancer Research and Sue Ryder rely heavily on donations from the general public to keep their work going.

So then people, please dig deep, dust off your debit/credit cards and help us reach our target by sponsoring us online now.

Sponsoring through this site couldn't be easier or safer.  Please don't forget to add Gift Aid to your donation to get an extra 28% from the government - at no extra cost to you!
