The Worry Walk · 17 February 2019

PAPYRUS is the national charity for the prevention of young suicide. We run HOPELINE247 0800 068 4141 a freephone confidential helpline staffed by trained professionals who give advice, support & information to anyone who is feeling suicidal, or concerned that a young person they know may be at risk

Story

Our mission is to walk over 6miles from Morwenstow to Bude, along the coastal path.
We will be carrying a 'box of worries' containing real worries from members of our youth collective, these will be written on slates. In total this will weigh around 10kg!!
As the journey unfolds we will leave worries at certain mile stones along the way.

This is all to highlight the burden of worry and doubt. How heavy and hard to bare they can be.
But also, how sharing them with others and letting others help share the load can help lighten the load and can eventually through a little hardship and struggle, worries can be left behind.

We will be a group of six 12-18 yr olds supporting each other through this mission. We will be accompanied by 2 adults, who will be competent hikers, first aiders and be carrying all essentials.

Thank you for your support and taking time to read this.

Blend Youth Collective

Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under 35 in the UK.
PAPYRUS is the national charity for the prevention of young suicide and believes that many young suicides are preventable. They operate HOPELINEUK, a confidential call, text, and email helpline for young people with thoughts of suicide or those concerned about a young person who may have thoughts of suicide.
Every £5 raised can help pay for a potentially life-saving contact to HOPELINEUK from a young person wanting to stay safe from their thoughts of suicide. Thank you.
