The Blessed Brides project (www.blessedbrides.co.uk) has been running successfully by the grace of Allah subhanahu wa’tala for almost a year now. We’ve been focusing on raising awareness of our initiative along with encouraging sisters (and brothers) to donate their wedding outfits. Our aim being to help those who are deprived of the things we take for granted, and the recycling of items which would otherwise remain stored away.
The team at Blessed Brides are keen to continue raising awareness of our initiative along with the work Ummah Welfare Trust (UWT) carry out in the area of weddings, for it is something that is usually overlooked and neglected by other charities. Insha’Allah, with your help we will be successful with our goal!
Summer is known to be the peak time whereby weddings take place all over the world. We organise and attend lavish weddings; however do we ever consider that there are people out there who cannot even afford to get married? What we may consider a minimal amount, something that is allocated to one element of planning that perfect day would in fact pay for a FULL wedding in deprived countries such as Pakistan, Bangladesh and India.
Our aim is to raise funds towards the UWT Weddings Fund project; we need your help to do this.
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
The cost of funding a full wedding in deprived countries is as follows:
Bangladesh: £250
Pakistan: £300
UWT pledge that 100% of your donations are sent to the cause, there are no charges taken from your donation for admin fees.
If it is within your means you may wish to fund a full wedding, otherwise you could arrange with your family/friends to collectively fund a wedding. We are happy to accept donations of any amount, so please give whatever is within your means. The idea would also work well as a wedding gift to someone, giving charity in the name of a couple would be far more appropriate than giving material objects which he/she may not even use or need.
The Messenger of Allah (sall'Allahu alayhi wa'sallam) said: "None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself." [al-Bukhari & Muslim]
Keeping with the spirit of this hadith, we must want for our brothers and sisters for what we want ourselves, so please support our project and try to spread the word on our behalf.

Please note: UWT do not carry out lavish or extravagant wedding ceremonies, the Shari'ah requirements are also met when organising the events. The ceremonies are conducted in a simple manner. We ask brothers and sisters to keep in mind that wedding ceremonies should remain simple and modest; this is by far the best way and is also a sunnah of our Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wa'sallam).
