Working with over 11,000 people with a sight impairment in Kent and surrounding areas, we’re one of the largest local sight loss charities in the UK. Our aims are to work to prevent avoidable sight loss, deliver excellent support services and help people to live independently.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my sponsorship page.

My Grandmother is partially sighted, and for a while now I have wanted to do something to raise money in order to help her and others in her position. After thinking for a while about how life must be for her, I decided that I could only really comprehend a sightless existence if I experienced it myself. I therefore ask you to sponsor me as I go without my sense of sight for 24 hours.

My eyes will be completely covered for the entirety of the 24 hours, and I will only be able to navigate through the use of my other senses, and through the guidance of a companion who will act as my "set of eyes" when necessary. I will otherwise be completely sightless, in an attempt to understand the reality that my Grandmother and countless others in her situation face.

Please give as much or as little as you wish; any amount will help tremendously. Thank you.
