Blisters and saddle sores! · 14 July 2005

Each day in the UK five families are told their child has cancer or leukaemia. From that moment on their lives will never be the same again. Most children will survive, some will die, but the scars on every family will remain. CLIC's role is to try and help these children and their families cope and keep life as normal as possible. It offers an all-embracing approach including practical hands-on care, clinical services, financial and emotional support. CLIC has joined together with Sargent Cancer Care for Children to become the UK’s leading children’s cancer charity.

Story

We are spending our summer holidays cycling from Whaley Bridge in Derbyshire to Shapinsay in the Orkney Islands (the "Rustigarth to Frustigarth" tour). COMPLETED! 08/08/2005 598miles! 9 days.

Not content with only having sore bums, we are then taking part in the Bullock Smithy Lane 56 mile/24 hour challenge hike around the Peak District on Sept 3rd (http://www.bullocksmithy.com/). COMPLETED!!! 04/09/2005 23 hours 34 minutes, ouch!

Hopefully the legs will have recovered in time for us to attempt the Great North Run (run??) on Sept 18th COMPLETED!!!!!!!!! 18/09/2005 2 hours 9 minutes 21 seconds before putting our feet up for a day or two... or until Mark comes up with another hair-brained scheme to get me fit!

Our chosen charity is CLIC (Cancer and Leukaemia in Childhood).
