My story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

Many years ago I made myself a promise that I would run a marathon before my fortieth birthday, a silly, silly pledge. Well, that date comes around all too soon so I thought I'd better pull my finger out and get entered somewhere nice and flat...... me not being a natural athelete by any stretch of the imagination ...... so where better than Amsterdam!

Jane and I adopted two children about three and a half years ago now, and that in itself was enough of a spur to pull on the trainers and get out running to relieve some of the inevitable stresses which come with going from a generally peaceful existence to a rumbunctious family life. Over those years - like all adopters - we've been on a real roller coaster and the services provided by Adoption UK, not least it's discussion forums, have helped us through the tough times and into the occasional calmer waters.

That's why I'm looking to support this particular charity, to help fund the essential work they do in holding together the many "jigsaw" families which exist to give kids the opportunities they need to flourish.

I hope that you'll agree that this is a worthwhile cause and feel able to make a pledge which will keep my feet pounding along the canalsides come October.

If you want to see how the training's going over the course of the year, you can also visit my blogspot at http://blistersfromamsterdam.blogspot.com/

Many thanks

Rob Clarke
