We are cycling 680km across China in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support in September 2008. We both wanted to complete a challenge in aid of Macmillan and the China Cycle Challenge seemed like the perfect opportunity. We are completing it in aid of a wonderful charity and in memory of two wonderful individuals who lost their lives to cancer. Christina's father, John Hough, lost his life to cancer in 2001. During his illness, he was cared for by the absolutely wonderful Macmillan nurses, making Macmillan a charity very close to our hearts. But Macmillan nurses are just one part of the bigger picture. Macmillan provides practical, medical, emotional and financial support to those suffering from cancer. Shireen Robinson, a friend to both Christina and Alison from school, lost her life to a brain tumour a few months after John. Shireen was a truly gifted and wonderful individual, full of life and promise, and was truly taken too soon. Although we hope that one day, we will beat cancer, there are currently over one million people in the UK with a cancer diagnosis, a figure expected to double by 2015. These people need help and support now. We hope that by completing this challenge, we will make a small but much needed contribution.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Macmillan Cancer Support will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor us now!
Many thanks for your support. Ali and Cina x
