Story

Auto Windscreens’ Bluebell Wood walkers raise £1,20014th December 2009

Three Auto Windscreens employees have raised  over £1000 for the Bluebell Wool Children's Hospice after pulling on their walking shoes on Friday 11th December and walking from Chesterfield to Matlock and back again - a round trip of 16 miles.

Tanya Jane Taylor, Trina Ash and Mark Oldfield were walking in memory of Emma Jane Knight, who was cared for in the Hospice shortly before her death last year aged 14.

Emma Jane was the daughter of a  friend of Carol Wood, Auto Windscreens' Collections Manager. Her team was so moved by Emma Jane's plight that Trina and Tanya Jane decided to do the charity walk. They were joined by Mark Oldfield who works in Auto Windscreens' factory.

Carol said: "The team  were really supportive after Emma Jane died and for them to do this walk in her memory to raise funds for such a worthwhile charity is just fantastic."

As well as donations, kind customers at Sainsbury's in Matlock, The Blue Stoops pub on Matlock Road in Walton,  the Duke of Wellington pub in Matlock, Matlock Golf Club and Kelstedge Inn all donated to the Auto Windscreens' walkers on the day.

Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice is based in North Aston, Sheffield and provides end-of-life care for terminally ill children, their parents and siblings.

Donations can still be made to the trio at www.justgiving.com/bluebellautowindscre
